A flood-proof and fire-resistant home located in the Upper Nehalem Valley.

Though not technically in the FEMA designated floodplain, the home sits within the historic area of catastrophic flooding that has occured in this part of the Oregon Coast range. The entire first floor is elevated above a flood-proofed concrete garage and workspace.

Metal roofing and siding, exposed concrete and strict adherence to defensible space make this home particularly fire-resistant.

A simple, gabled volume provides vaulted interior living spaces, ample natural light and forested views of the surrounding coast range.
